I am not a fan of vista and would like to know if I can roll my system back to windows XP. I have a Dell laptoop that came with XP installed. I got the Vista upgrade a month later and upgraded my system. Its been running Vista for about 6 months now and I want to go back to XP. My question is this, all of my files were created after the upgrade and I had to make some modifications to some of the programs to make them work properly. Would I lose everything that I have if I roll back the installation or could I keep all my settings when I go back to XP. If I can keep my settings then can someone tell me the steps necessary to perform the roll back? I see this is a new forum so I dont have much hope of getting this answered quickly.

I dont think that you can roll back to XP. There are too many structural changes to "roll" back. My advice to you is to backup your documents and applications and simply format your drive and install XP.
It's been fun, but I must scream now
